Incremental Construction Inspections

|
If you are building a new house or commercial building, Woodbury Inspection Group Inc. can provide you with inspections at
critical, incremental stages of construction. These construction phase
inspections are typically done at the following stages:
- Prior to Pouring the Concrete Foundation
This will determine if the site and visible substrate is properly prepared,
the foundation forms are properly located, and the primary
structural steel is correctly placed. It is much less expensive to find
and correct problems at this early stage of construction, than when
discovering them after the concrete is poured, and the building is
framed.
- Prior to Drywall or Sheathing the Interior Walls
This will determine if the framing (including hold down hardware),
rough plumbing, wiring, and air conditioning air handlers, furnace
and duct work is installed correctly. It is easier for the builder to
make corrections before sheetrock has been installed the building
components are exposed.
- At the Completion of the Building, Prior to Closing
This Inspection will determine if the structure is built to plans and
specifications, if the workmanship is good, if all of the systems, fixtures,
appliances and other components are operational. The property
will need to have all utilities turned on. Again, there are many
items to review. Your inspector can check the plumbing fixtures,
flashing, appliance operation, electrical outlets, drainage, window
operation, AC, wall finish, deck supports, and more. Additional inspections
can be obtained as requested.
Many construction defects are typically discovered during these
construction phase inspections, and this is normal. This is the time
to find and correct errors that may cause costly water intrusion,
structural defects, electrical, venting, and plumbing problems, and
prevent health and safety hazards.
